Extra Curricular Activities
As well as singing in Northamptonshire, TCS regularly joins singers from other choirs to perform in such prestigious venues as the Royal Albert Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Here, we get the chance to sing with a professional orchestra and conductor and to tackle works which are beyond the scope of a small community choir. Singing Handel’s ‘Messiah’ from scratch in RAH is a regular fixture in our calendar. We have also sung Verdi’s ‘Requiem’, John Rutter’s ‘Gloria’ and many members participated in the world premiere of Karl Jenkins’ ‘Gloria’ in 2010.
We do not confine our singing activities to the United Kingdom. In recent years, choir members have joined singing trips to Prague, Beijing, Seville, Madeira and Dubrovnik. These give us the opportunity to meet members of choirs from all over the country and to sing with professional soloists, as well as a professional conductor and a local orchestra.
